Cáritas Coimbra shared experiences on technology use in an aging population
On June 9, Cáritas Coimbra participated in the International Conference “Technologies in the service of adult education.” The event held in the Lusofona University in Lisbon served to present the system – APP OPALESCE, the result of a coordinated international project By RUTIS. The project OPALESCE – Online Portal and Active Learning System for Senior Citizens in Europe, funded by the European Erasmus + program, aims to create a more user friendly distance education system for the senior population.
Caritas de Coimbra, represented by Ana Rita Santos, joined the panel of speakers to share their experience in technological projects that enhance the cognitive stimulation of the elderly, and the contribute to the active and healthy aging of the population they support. Under the theme “The use of technologies in an aging community”, some of the technological projects where Caritas de Coimbra has participated, such as the GrowMeUp, CaMeLi or primerCOG project, as well as all the non-technological work of cognitive stimulation together Of the elderly population it supports.
Throughout the event the system was presented OPALESCE, developed throughout the project, giving the group of elderly people the opportunity to experience the technology, clarifying all the doubts and giving suggestions in real time, once the whole project team was present And available for clarification.
