Caritas of Coimbra confronts isolation and technologies in Hasselt | Belgium
Caritas Coimbra participated as a speaker at the European Summit presented by Aging2.0 and Happy Aging on the Social Inclusion: Connecting People Through Technology panel. The event was held on May 24 at the University of Hasselt in Belgium.
The panel addressed issues such as isolation and loneliness in the elderly, the challenges related to the use of technologies and how they can enhance people’s connection, as well as demographic changes in Europe. Ideas were also shared about what innovators, researchers, and technology designers should be aware of when designing technologies for the elderly population. Flávia Rodrigues, Public Relations of the Department of Innovation, shared some perspectives and experiences on the projects developed in Cáritas de Coimbra, such as GrowMeUp.
The main objective of this European Summit was the sharing of good practices in the field of active aging, as well as the presentation of technologies related to health and dementia, social isolation and livable communities.
