BIOGRAPHY
João Luís Alves Apóstolo. Aggregation degree in Nursing Sciences (2017), PhD in Nursing Sciences (2008), Postdoctoral program in Nursing Sciences (2013), master’s degree in addictions and psychosocial pathologies (2000), postgraduate study in health service administration (2000), degree in nursing (1998) with a specialization in mental health and psychiatric nursing (1997). From 1988 to 2000, he worked as a general and specialized nurse at the Coimbra Hospital and Universitary Centre (CHUC). He is a Full Professor at the Nursing School of Coimbra in the areas of research methodologies, evidence-based health care, and psychogeriatrics.
He is the coordinator of the Health Sciences Research Unit: Nursing (UICISA:E). Research projects and interests: patients’ comfort, depression, cognitive impairment, cognitive stimulation in the elderly, elderly frailty and synthesis of science -Obtained funds: (i) 664367/FOCUS under the European Union’s Health Programme (2014-2020) with 1.427.779,00 euros; (ii) ECOG under the ESEnfC research program with 20,000 euros; (iii); MIND&GAIT under the COMPETE 2020 program, with 148.639,49 euros (iv) ModulEn, “Pilot project for the establishment of a predictive model as a possible modulator of the aging in health Science with 25.000, INTERREG Portugal/Espanha, Fundación General CSIC (Madrid); (v) DiabetICC Footwear, Agency for Science, Technology and Research (Lisbon), with 1,073,611.66 euros; (vi) SPIDER Strategic Partnership in Innovation and Development of Evidence-Based Healthcare, Erasmus+ (Brussels) with 182,764.00 euros; vii 4NoPressure – Development of smart clothing for pressure ulcer prevention ANI (Lisboa, Co-promotion R&D Projects, Interface programme/portugal2020) with 925,558.01 euros. Scientific Coordinator of the UICISA:E; Member of the General Board of the ESEnfC. He is the Director of The PORTUGAL Centre for Evidence Based Practice: A Joanna Briggs Institute (JBI) Centre of Excellence (PCEBP). He is a member of the Cognitive Decline Group of the European Innovation Partnership on Active and Healthy Ageing (EIP-AHA) promoted by the European Commission, and member of the coordinator group of the consortium Ageing@Coimbra that represents a European Reference Site for Active and Healthy Ageing. He served as a member of the Board of Directors of the Phi Xi Chapter and European Communication Committee, and represented the chapter at the House of Delegates. He is peer reviewer for 14 international scientific journals and member of the Editorial Board and of the Scientific Committee of the Journal of Nursing Referência. He has published 269 works. Received 12 awards and/or honors.
